Transparency and integrity guide our work at Carbon Market Watch, including how we are funded. We consider our funding sources conscientiously to ensure that our evidence-based research and advocacy efforts remain fully independent, advance our mission to address the climate crisis, and align with our values.
Our financial support comes from international foundations, public institutions and European programmes. We do not accept funding from fossil fuel interests or any other entities whose activities conflict with our environmental and social values. We develop our priorities and positions independently from our funders, based upon the best-available empirical research and scientific evidence.
In our annual reports, you can find more information on CMW’s yearly highlights, statistics on media engagements, information on our team, board, and members, a breakdown of our finances, and the disclosure of our funding sources.
Information on our registration number, legal form, address, status, activities, contact data, publications in the Belgian Official Gazette, and directors/legal representatives is updated annually in the Banque-Carrefour des Entreprises (BCE / KBO – Belgium’s official business register).
Our advocacy work is also declared in the EU Transparency Register. There you can find:
Additionally, in the EU Funding & Tenders Portal, you can find our official legal details and Participant Identification Code (PIC). This annually updated registry shows how CMW is identified for EU projects and funding.
The EU Financial Transparency System (FTS) also contains information about the EU grants we have received (and the activities carried out under them). The FTS publishes and updates all grants awarded by the European Commission annually.
If you still have questions about our funding or transparency practices, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at [email protected].
