From peer-to-peer learning, capacity building, and training programmes to engagement of local stakeholders in expert working groups, EUCityCalc empowers cities to devise a clear and concrete roadmap towards their climate and energy plans.

This is to help cities obtain the necessary knowledge, know-how, and information in order to make the right choices and determine the most effective cross-sectoral and territorial approaches to decarbonisation.

Start the change with EU City Calculator

To achieve this, our project also developed a prospective modelling approach: the European City Calculator web tool. This open-source tool provides cities with a sectoral outlook on the type and ambition of measures they can take by:

  • Performing real-time simulations that build a direct understanding of the key measures and levers of the low carbon transition.
  • Raising awareness of the whole energy system and its dynamics, all greenhouse gas emissions, and the associated resources and socio-economic impact.
  • Following the steps to select measures, build scenarios and analyse them to calculate GHG reductions and their associated costs.
