Introduced in 2023, Fit for 55 is a package of EU climate and energy policies which aim to help achieve the European Green Deals goal of slashing net emissions by 55% by 2030, relative to 1990 levels. This target is a pace-setting milestone ahead of EU member states commitment to achieve climate-neutrality (net-zero emissions) by 2050.

Carbon Market Watch followed the Fit for 55 package closely to ensure that policymakers’ well-meaning words become actions and to campaign for greater ambition.
