Report on 9th Meeting of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Board

Between 24-26 March the Board of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) held its 9th meeting in Songdo, South Korea. The Board had a lot on its plate for a three day discussion, but managed to make notable progress on some items, vital for approving the first funding proposals in the Board meeting ahead of Paris climate negotiations.

Carbon Market Watch Recommendations for SB-38, June 2013

It is vital that existing carbon markets are reformed and new ones designed in way that ensures the environmental integrity of carbon market units and their accounting. Submission of Views to the Review of the Modalities and Procedures of the Clean Development Mechanism

This submission is to the UNFCCC on Views to the Review of the Modalities and Procedures of the Clean Development Mechanism. We urge Parties to strengthen the social and environmental integrity of the CDM and to address, as a matter of priority, the following issues: Fundamentally reform additionality requirements, Shorten length of crediting periods, Ensure that all CDM Projects uphold human rights, Improve the CDM’s contribution to sustainable development, Strengthened Civil Society Participation in the CDM process, Address conflict of interest of DOEs, Establish a communications channel for case specific matters, Set-up a Grievance Mechanism, and Improve the constitution and conduct of the CDM Executive Board and supporting bodies.

Submission on Views regarding Human Rights in the Revision of the CDM Modalities and Procedures

This submission is to the UNFCCC on Views regarding Human Rights in the Revision of the CDM Modalities and Procedures. As part of the review of the CDM Modalities and Procedures, the undersigned organizations call on the CDM to: establish institutional safeguards; strengthen local community and civil society participation; and provide processes to ensure that affected communities have a means to raise concerns at any stage of the project cycle.
