Background

At a time when the negotiations on the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and the Clean Energy Package are well underway, policymakers are increasingly discussing the need for coherence between the EU ETS and other climate and energy policies, such as energy efficiency and renewables.

The event, organised by Carbon Market Watch and the Permanent Representations of the Netherlands and Luxembourg to the EU, brought together policymakers and stakeholders to analyse the interaction between different policies and offer ways forward in order to safeguard the environmental integrity of EU climate action in line with the Paris Agreement.
